The Arulmigu Kannimar Temple is situated in Nandavanam, in the Perunthalaiyur village within the Bhavani taluka. The temple is dedicated to seven deities known as the Saptha Kannigal, which include Sumathi, Kowmaari, Maheshwari , Rajakanni, Vaishnavi, Pattakari and Shubitra. Kannimar, within this context, symbolize celestial beings, the seven musical notes (sapta swaram), and the seven energy centers in the human body. Arulmigu Kannimar Samy is primarily venerated by the Sengunthar and jangam communities. The Saptha Kanniyar shrine was constructed by the Sengundha Mudaliyar community in the year 1950.
The name "Nandavanam" takes on its true significance when experienced during a visit to this temple. This sacred place is nestled amidst lush green landscapes, adorned with a flower garden and a flowing stream situated behind the Gopuram (temple tower). Every new moon day there is a grand pooja which is witnessed by a large group of devotees from all over Tamil Nadu. And it is a must visit for all Kannimar devotees.
